New Release Roundup: February 2012

Only 4 days left until the Improbable Tales Kickstarter project from Fainting Goat Games closes! Right now if you sign up, you will receive TEN adventures for ICONS. And of this writing, the project is only $14 bucks short of hitting the $1,000 mark, and if that happens, it will unlock yet another bonus adventure for a grand total of ELEVEN ICONS adventures! $12 bucks for ten (and possibly eleven) ICONS adventures in PDF is a good deal, and there are other funding options offered that include a print compilation and cool Fainting Goat Games swag. So if you haven't signed up yet, now is the time, so don't miss out!

Vigilance Press recently released Due Vigilance: The Oktobermen for ICONS. The Oktobermen is an ICONS sourcebook containing a fully-detailed and fleshed out team of villains with a supernatural bent, and makes a nice companion piece to Devilish Duos: Smoke & Mirrors. One nice feature I really liked was the inclusion of a full page relationship chart for the members of the team. Cardboard cutout standees are also included. Due Vigilance: The Oktobermen is a 22 page PDF written by Jack Norris with artwork by James Dawsey and Jon Gibbons and sells for $5.99. I've always been a huge fan of horror gaming so I especially enjoyed reading this. Be sure and check it out!

New Map: The Barony of Mendovia

Today I created a new map in Campaign Cartographer 3 (CC3) for the Barony of Mendovia, a fictional country in the world of Grimm City. Mendovia is small, old world country ruled with an iron hand by one of the major super-villains in my campaign world, The Black Baron. I used the latest installment of the Cartographer's Annual which simulates the look of overland satellite maps to make this, and I'm really pleased with the results.

Only one question remains...

For the answer to that question and more, please tune in next time!
Until then, thanks for reading!

Super Bowl Sunday

Are you ready for some football?

Madonna's Half Time Super Bowl Show: Call me crazy, but if Madonna *doesn't* do something controversial during her half time performance, I'm going to be disappointed. But I'll settle for shocking. Stir it up, girl. To quote Jack Nicholson as the Joker, "this town needs an enema!"

Quick blogger shout out: If you're looking for some great last minute Super Bowl snack ideas, check out  Behind the Bites, a food blog by a good buddy from my Astoria Queens days, Justin Gilbert.

Random Fun Grimm City Fact
The Highlands football stadium in Northside (E-14 on the Grimm City map) is home to the Grimm City Whalers, Grimm City's major league football franchise.Their uniform colors are blue and gold.

Thanks for reading, and GO GIANTS!

Bazaar of the Bizarro: Stating the Obvious

Welcome to the Bazaar of the Bizarro - a new feature column here at Just Add Heroes where I intend to share some of my more humorous, absurd and even ridiculous ideas for the ICONS Superpowered Roleplaying game. So fasten your seat belts in the Batmobile or your invisible jet plane - it's going to be a bumpy ride...

Stating the Obvious: the act of saying something that everyone already knows and understands (see what I did there?). If you grew up watching Super Friends on Saturday mornings like I did, you are no doubt familiar with the concept and the frequency with which the characters on that show would engage in the practice (Robin was an especially notorious culprit). "Look! That villain is opening the door by turning the door knob so he can exit the room!" It's annoying, irritating, painfully reminds you that all Aquaman ever really does is talk to some fish, and makes the perfect addition to a beer n' pretzels ICONS game!

New Quality: States the Obvious
Whenever you state the obvious to those around you, you may tag this Aspect and spend a point of Determination to gain an advantage on that annoyed villain who overheard you and is now looking at you like you are a complete moron. A generous GM who catches you stating the obvious on your own might feel inclined to compel this Quality so you can gain a point of Determination.

Now more than ever, thanks for reading!
